What the exemption covers, and what we do each day

Pillow is a ministry of Mercy Methodist Church. Here is our standing with the state, the rooms we run and the routines that keep each one steady.

License

A ministry of Mercy Methodist Church. We operate under Alabama's religious exemption from state child care licensing: we are exempt, not licensed. We keep our notice of exemption on file. Ask to see it at a tour.

What our exemption means, in plain words

Alabama lets a church ministry run child care without a state child care license. That is how Pillow runs. We are exempt from that licensing, and we say so plainly.

What we do instead is the work you can check on this page: background checks for the staff, first aid and CPR training, a number of children for each teacher in each room and routines for pickup, sleep, allergies and drills.

Our notice of exemption is on file at the office. Ask Earnestine to put it on the table at your tour, and ask anything about it.
